It’s been an incredibly rough season for the Detroit Pistons, and unfortunately, it took a turn for the worse in their latest game against the Utah Jazz, resulting in a 119-111 loss. This defeat marks the Pistons’ 25th consecutive loss, bringing them within three losses of equaling the longest losing streaks in NBA history, held by the 2014/15 and 2015/16 Philadelphia 76ers. In terms of a single season, the Pistons are just one loss away from tying the record for the longest losing streak, shared by the 2013/14 Philadelphia 76ers and the 2010/11 Cleveland Cavaliers.
Adding to the disappointment, the Detroit Pistons essentially faced a Jazz team that consisted mainly of benchwarmers and G-League players, as nearly 75% of the Jazz’s actual team was sidelined due to injuries

The Jazz are also having a pretty bad season with a record of 11-18, reflecting how poorly the Detroit Pistons are performing. It seems like the Pistons have given up on their coach, the games, and seemingly the entire season. The situation got so dire that fans were chanting “sell the team.”
You know what this team needs? A complete overhaul. I’m dead serious—everyone, from the players and coaching staff to the executives, needs to go. Given how poorly they’ve performed, it’s time for a fresh start and it needs to be done midseason. I’d even consider trading both Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey, who truly deserve better than what this franchise has shown. They’ve been the only players putting in effort this season and this team needs a fresh start.
What’s truly alarming is having Monty Williams as the head coach. He was the Coach of the Year in 2022, but in the NBA, coaching might not hold the same significance as it does in the MLB, NFL, or NHL. However, the team’s abysmal performance suggests serious issues. The players seem demotivated and disinterested, which reflects poorly on coaching. The Pistons must part ways with Monty Williams after this season. A 25-game losing streak in the NBA season is a huge indictment on coaching and warrants dismissal. It’s quite a fall for Monty Williams, who just 30 months ago was coaching the Phoenix Suns in the 2021 NBA Finals and is now coaching a team that might break the NBA’s losing streak record.
Troy Weaver, the general manager, also needs to be replaced. Many questionable decisions made over the past three years have led to this dreadful outcome. While it’s unfortunate for people to lose their jobs, it wouldn’t surprise me if Weaver is removed mid-season along with Williams.
It’s truly disappointing to see what’s been happening with the Detroit Pistons. There was so much hype entering the season, especially with the exciting young talents promising a bright future. Sadly, it’s all gone to waste, and the team’s current 2-26 record is disheartening. This has been an incredibly tough time for fans of this team
